Sunday 3 May
The 9.00am service Will be a service of All Age Worship to celebrate our Patronal Festival. The Patronal Festival is a celebration of the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary who our church is dedicated to. In short, it’s about celebrating the church’s identity and honouring its namesake.

We will be donating today’s collection to the Mothers’ Union in celebration of their 150th Anniversary. As Karen has mentioned in the newsletter over the past couple of weeks, the Mothers’ Union are celebrating 150 years since the Founder, Mary Sumner, started the Church of England Organisation to help fight poverty and social injustice, and works to improve family life. Please give generously.
Bible Study Group
If you are interested in joining the bible study group, we meet each Monday evening at 8.00pm in someone’s house; the venue will be announced in the newsletter under The Week Ahead. You could also join via Zoom. We are currently studying Exodus. If you wish to join us, you will be very welcome. Please speak to Daphne or Ronnie for further details and for the code and password for connecting via Zoom.
Sunday 28 April Confirmation Service
The confirmation service at St Nick’s last Sunday evening was a very joyous and uplifting occasion led by Bishop Jonathan, with a large number of candidates. They each gave their testimony before being confirmed, including our very own Tim and Pam. Standing in front of a huge congregation to give my testimony I would have found very daunting, so well done to all of them, especially Tim and Pam. Confirmation can mark a transition, particularly for younger candidates, from inherited belief to chosen conviction. For adults, it offers a meaningful opportunity to affirm their faith publicly, sometimes after a long or difficult journey. Ultimately, at the end of the service, all the candidates had given a thoughtful “yes” to faith and commitment to Jesus. And so, a big welcome to Tim and Pam in their journey of faith. At the end of the service, I knew more about them, after hearing their testimonies, than I did at the beginning of the service!

Annual Parochial Church Meeting - Sunday 31st May 11:15am.
APCM: Our APCM is fast approaching. It will take place after the end of the 9:30am service, with a short break for refreshments. The services will be as normal at both 8am and 9:30am. We start with the 'vestry meeting' to appoint Churchwardens and the APCM follows immediately after.
CHURCHWARDEN: This year, Warwick is stepping down as Churchwarden, which is very sad. We are extremely grateful for all he has done over the past two years and he will be greatly missed. We will of course be looking for someone to replace him, so if you feel it is something you could do and would like to know more, please speak to Warwick.
PCC: We are also looking for new people to join the PCC. If you are interested, you will need to be on the church electoral roll and have a proposer and seconder. It would be great to have some fresh blood on the PCC so please do consider it and speak to any of us currently on the PCC if you are interested: Ronnie (PCC Secretary), Trevor Harrison (Treasurer), Barry Sharp, Sarah Stott, Sue Perry, Susan Allender.
Remember, our church runs on the goodwill and help of those who attend each week and if we want to keep our church running efficiently then we really do need volunteers who will help in any way they can, be it on the PCC or through individual gifts and talents.
In preparation for the APCM, there are nomination papers at the back of church for Churchwardens and Parochial Church Council (PCC).

Copies of the Agenda, 2025 Minutes, Financial Accounts and Reports will be available in church two weeks before the APCM.
