St Mary’s Tots & Toddlers Group meet every Monday afternoon in school term time. We start at 1.30pm and finish with singing at 3.30pm. The age group is from new born up to 4.  We ask for a donation of £1 per family to cover the cost of refreshments.

We have a small but perfectly formed team of helpers, and a happy and appreciative set of parents, carers and children attending every week.  

 

Our layout of toys and activities works well for the children and parents/carers. The toddler area has toys suitable for that age group i.e. 2 to 4 years, such as a brio train track at toddler height, playdough table, colouring and craft activities, imaginative play, books and puzzles. The separate baby area is cosy and comfortable with suitable rugs and baby toys.

There is tea, coffee, soft drinks and biscuits available with something to please all comers.

 

At the end of each session, we have a time of music when children and parents join in, with songs like Wheels on the Bus and Wind the Bobbin up, amongst others. Our Lay Minister, Daphne, plays the piano to accompany the songs and the older children often contribute with their requests – it’s surprising how many strange animals Old MacDonald has acquired on his farm!  Our musical instruments are very popular and sometimes bring our afternoon’s session to a very noisy end – ending with a calming dose of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, which is a necessity!  It’s all great fun though.

 

Our welcome letter, which is given to all new parents and carers, clearly states that it is the parents’ responsibility to care for their children whilst they are on the premises.  Needless to say our volunteers are always vigilant and willing and are very aware that the safety of the children is paramount.  Our Risk Assessment is strictly followed and assessed and our Leaders have recently undertaken up to date safeguarding courses as required by the Church of England.

Tots and Toddlers is an established and much loved activity which the St Mary’s church family offers to our local community. We try to keep  all those who come also informed of our other church activities - they are always very welcome to join any part of our church family life.
